In the initial phase, which will last until May 31, the user can also obtain parking permits with the help of a video operator and real time recording, thus eliminating the need to physically go to the Office of the Authority and reducing the use of paper. A total of 24 charging points will be installed inside the totems. On board the vehicles used for car sharing there is a navigation system that allows for the rationalization of circulation in the city, optimizing travel times by identifying points of interest. Furthermore, by downloading an App on their Smartphone the user will have the possibility to book his car at the Ci.ro. point closest to him. Initially the tests will be the prerogative of citizens and tourists: groups of about 600 people who, subject to ‘accreditation’, will be able to use the integrated system for a period of two months. The experimental phase will allow users to use the service completely free of charge, then, subsequently, also analyzing the results obtained from the tests, an assessment of the cost of the service will be carried out in relation to management costs.
The integration activity was made possible by the collaboration provided by three partner companies: in the list, in addition to Renault Italia, which made the vehicles available, also ABB, the manufacturer of charging stations and Vodafone, which collaborated for the creation of the internal management interface of the system for the development of e-Governament software. “With this project – explains the mayor of Naples, Luigi de Magistris – we have reached an important milestone. Among other things, the choice of ‘Ci.ro.’ it is unique in that it is a name very dear to the Neapolitans. The success of the initiative goes on the axis of cooperation between public and private, something that in Naples has also been studied for the recovery of the historical monuments of the city. do not stop there: in March we will also start with the bike sharing service in the Neapolitan streets “.

In addition to the mayor Luigi de Magistris, also the deputy mayor Tommaso Sodano, the president of Napoli Città Intelligente, Alessandro Mennella, the general director for the coordination and development of research took part in the presentation of the experimental project, at the Maschio Angioino del Miur, Fabrizio Cobis, the project manager of Ci.ro., Giambattista Pignataro, the engineer Luigi Pagliara, the smart cities business development manager of ABB Italy, Antonio Lamanna, the communication director of Renault Italy, Francesco Fontana Giusti, and the public affairs manager of Vodafone Italia, Michelangelo Suigo.
