The Municipality of Lucca starts an electric car-sharing project

The Municipality of Lucca has started an electric car-sharing project. After Florence and Arezzo, the municipality of Lucca has also launched a sustainable mobility project that involves various local authorities.

On 25 March, 5 Renault Zoe (to which a sixth will soon be added), the compact zero-emission sedan, were delivered to the city administration. The handover ceremony took place at the renovated headquarters of the Renault Nuova Comauto dealership in Lucca, in the presence of the Councilor for the Environment Francesco Raspini. Mayor Mauro Favilla commented: “These projects confirm that the municipal administration is committed to reducing seriously pollution. Already in 2011, the Municipality introduced 20% of the energy it consumes from renewable sources and reduced the CO2 emissions emitted by public buildings. We are carrying out a real ‘Climate Plan’, with actions that the administration is already carrying out and will carry out to reduce pollutants “.

With an autonomy of about 130-150 km in real use, Renault Zoe is at the top, among the electric vehicles of its category on the market today, in terms of autonomy, which makes it particularly suitable for car-sharing. The six Renault electric vehicles will be used in a car-sharing service which will be used not only by the Municipality of Lucca, but also by the Province and the Environmental Protection Agency (Arpat). The project implemented by the municipal administration also provides for the installation of recharging points at the various bodies.

Alongside Renault Zoe, Renault’s range of electric vehicles – which offers a complete range of 100% electric vehicles on the market – is completed by the Twizy urban quadricycle, also available in a version dedicated to freight transport, Twizy Cargo, and the Kangoo Z.E.
