Ecological car sharing arrives in Lucca: the project is underway

The two projects wanted by the Tambellini administration are entering the operational phase with the aim of supporting and increasing alternative and non-polluting mobility in the city and throughout the municipal area. The council this morning (July 15) in fact fired the executives who will lead in September to the installation of an electric bicycle charging system, as well as to the purchase of five electric cars that will be used in car-sharing between various local entities. “With these two concrete interventions – explains the councilor for the environment Francesco Raspini – the municipal administration intends to implement an idea of mobility that also in Lucca, as in other Italian and European medium-sized cities, can leverage the public transport service -and the new Lam goes in this direction- and on non-polluting means to move in and around the city ”.

“These are ambitious projects – adds the councilor for mobility Francesca Pierotti – that will need to be known and used to become a stable part of our daily life, but we believe that investing in them is equivalent to investing in the future”. But let’s see in detail the two projects, both of which have obtained special funding from the Tuscany Region and which therefore will in no way affect the expenses of the municipal budget.
With the first, which will cost 321,510 euros, two structures will be built, real prefabricated sheds dedicated to the parking and recharging of light vehicles, electric bicycles, mopeds and cars, one at the Carducci car park and one of the ex Campo di Marte. These Solar Bike Stations, which will be equipped with photovoltaic panels to provide the energy necessary for recharging, will have access only to authorized users and for security reasons the possibility of creating an integrated video surveillance system is also envisaged..

Six other charging points, this time dedicated exclusively to bicycles, will instead be placed along the cycle paths: one in piazza Curtatone, one in piazza San Ponziano near the Carducci middle school, one in via Dante Alighieri, one in via Piaggia nearby of the Industrial Technical Institute, one near the San Luca and finally one in Antraccoli near the Guidi elementary school in via Paladini. The second project, which has a total value of 224,554 euros, involves the purchase of 5 cars powered by electricity, which will be used not only by the Municipality of Lucca, but also by the Province and Arpat, with three specific points destined for charging.
