Digital Islands for the future Milan Smart City are multimedia areas that allow citizens and tourists to move, communicate, get informed and recharge in an intelligent and sustainable way.

The project born in view of the digitization of the city implemented for the historic event of EXPO 2015 has seen several phases of growth up to the current structure of 28 islands dedicated to Car Sharing, Electric Recharge of Private Vehicles, InfoTurismo, Recharge Apartments and Wi-Fi etc …

Real areas for access to the Smart City, in the Digital Islands users can use the free recharge columns for their electronic devices (pc, tablet, smartphone) and at the same time have the opportunity to keep up to date on the events of the city , on cultural and tourist events or on the state of mobility, traffic and public transport, knowing in real time the position of the various vehicles through a multilingual touch-screen totem.

Another primary function of the Islands is that of parking spaces reserved for both private electric cars and the current provider of the Car Sharing Full Electric service.

The Isole Digitali di Milano project is therefore a complex project with a high added value for the Milanese capital with important international implications given by the visibility of the EXPO 2015 event.

The recharging points envisaged by the project are a total of 310. In this context, Generale Sistemi con In-Presa operated as a supplier of part of the internal technology to almost half of the recharging stations and remote communication equipment installed.
