Once the photovoltaic shelter is completed, the pilot project is almost ready
The works for the bike sharing pilot project that will start in March in Rivanazzano Terme, in Piazza Papa Giovanni XXIII have almost been completed. The initiative involved the installation of a photovoltaic shelter next to the Rivanazzano post office, equipped with a mechanical rack and charging for pedal assisted bikes. The work is now completed and the tourist info-point panel has also been buried, only the electrical connection is missing, in addition to the bikes that will be supplied by March. From that moment two months of experimentation will start up to May to evaluate the functioning and the approval of the project, after which the service will become operational in all respects. The bike sharing was financed by the Province, while the management and maintenance costs of the first two years, for a sum of 10 thousand euros, are borne by the spa municipality.
4 pedal assisted bicycles can be used (it is a vehicle with which you can use an electric motor that is recharged by attaching it to the shelter). The autonomy will be a couple of hours, the construction of the stretch of cycle path that connects Rivanazzano to Salice Terme (cost 107 thousand euros, 62 thousand borne by the Municipality of Rivanazzano, 45 thousand donated by the Lombardy Region) will allow users to travel safely the entire stretch of road between Voghera and the two spa towns. In fact, the works for the stretch of cycle path from Rivanazzano to Retorbido (entirely borne by the Province) have already been contracted. The bikes have a control unit with a software device that manages the batteries. In order to access the bike-sharing you will need a card – free – which will be available in some shops (tobacconist, newsagent and bar).
