Sustainable mobility: the first solar panel charging station inaugurated this morning
Inaugurated this morning by the councilor for mobility Judith Kofler Peintner and in the presence of the councilors Patrizia Trincanato and Mauro Randi, as well as some municipal councilors, municipal technicians, the director of the CO2 Plan Office Emanuele Sascor, Benjamin Auer of the Ökoinstitut Südtirol / Alto Adige and the representatives of the supplier company E-move srl, the first of the two charging stations for electric bicycles that Bolzano makes available to citizens. “This is a zero-cost operation for the Municipality” underlined the commissioner Kofler Peintner “since it is fully funded by the European Union within the REZIPE project, which also includes Upper Austria, Klagenfurt, Ljubljana, Györ and Reggio Emilia “. The objective of the project, like that of the many initiatives promoted by the City in the field of Mobility, is to encourage more ecological travel, thus improving the quality of the air and that of life for all of us.
It is estimated that there are over 5,000 electric bicycles in circulation in Bolzano. This high number is also to be attributed to the infrastructures favorable to the use of bicycles and to the high percentage of journeys made in the saddle (about 30% of the total journeys in the city). In the future, electric bicycles will be able to constitute a valid and eco-sustainable alternative to motorcycles and, with the two charging stations (the one inaugurated today and a second one that will be built soon), it is also intended to involve those people who may not use them often, because the journeys to be made are longer and they are afraid of finding themselves with an unloaded bike or they are afraid of a theft
